The Bahá’í Faith is a world religion whose purpose is to unite all the races and peoples in one universal Cause and one common Faith. Bahá’ís are the followers of Bahá’u’lláh, Who they believe is the Promised One of all Ages. Traditions of almost every people include the promise of a future when peace and harmony will be established on earth and humankind will live in prosperity.
We believe that the promised hour has come and that Bahá’u’lláh is the great Personage Whose Teachings will enable humanity to build a new world. In one of His Writings, Bahá’u’lláh says:
“That which the Lord hath ordained as the sovereign remedy and mightiest instrument for the healing of all the world is the union of all its peoples in one universal Cause, one common Faith.” (Bahá’u’lláh, Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 255)
Bahá’ís view the world’s major religions as a part of a single, progressive process through which God reveals His will to humanity. Bahá’u’lláh (1817-1892), the Founder of the Bahá’í Faith, is recognized as the most recent in a line of Divine Messengers that includes Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Zoroaster, Christ and Muhammad.
The worldwide Bahá’í community, composed of people from virtually every racial, ethnic and religious background, is working to give practical expression to Bahá’u’lláh’s vision of world unity. The Bahá’ís in the Philippines is a community of Filipinos, who like their fellow Bahá’ís living in other parts of the world, view the world’s major religions as a part of a single, progressive process through which God reveals His will to humanity.
In the Philippines, members of the Faith reside in several provinces and islands, in villages and urban centers. They come from various religious background, economic strata. At present, Bahá’ís and their friends are undertaking activities at the grass-root level meant for the spiritual and social transformation of the country.
